3 unbaked 8-inch pie shells
Cream together sugar and shortening. Beat egg and add to milk. Stir together
the flour and baking powder. Add the combined milk and egg alternatively
with flour and baking powder to the sugar and shortening. Add the vanilla.
Spoon this layer into the pie shells.
SECOND LAYER:
Mix sugar and cocoa, add hot water to blend. Add vanilla. Pour into pie shells over first layer. Don't mix the layers together. They will switch positions during baking.
Bake in 350° F. oven for about 45 minutes, or until toothpick comes out
clean. Cool completely before serving.
